The Questions

Wearing a suit and tie is one of the best ways to make yourself look your best. The topic of what outfit makes men look their best is always debated, but generation after generation it is proven that the suit always works! (time to buy a new suit then). From business events to a nice dinner with the wife, the suit and tie is one way to guarantee that you look your best.  The added bonus we have now is the hundreds of thousands of different tie designs available to purchase, and the opportunity to get your tie custom printed (with Garment Printing of course). But with all these different ties come questions such as, “which knot do I choose?”, “When do I even need to wear a tie?” and my personal favourite “how do I even tie a tie?”. These question sadly can’t be answered in one sentence and as most of us sadly do not have time to read Thomas Finks “The 85 Ways to Tie a Tie”, we at Garment Printing have written a small guide on wearing your tie.

The Four in a Hand Knot

The four in a hand knot is usually the knot people learn when attempting to tie a tie for the first time and that is for one simple reason, it is the easiest!  Luckily for all of us the knot can be tied in four simple steps as seen in the picture on the left. After completing the steps, the only knowledge you need to know to finish is, use the use the slim end of the tie to pull the knot close to your collar and pull the larger end to decrease the size of the knot. Nice, easy and simple! If you are in a rush this is the knot to use!

The Half-Windsor Knot

Here is the part where the knots can get a bit tricky, but the good news is the final product looks at least 10 times better than the four in a hand knot. With the half-Windsor knot, you get a triangularly shaped knot that looks professional and elegant. If you can perfect the knot then using the half-Windsor is definitely the preferable choice. It looks just as good as the full Windsor and takes around a quarter of the time (and should hopefully only take you one attempt). Luckily for us, all the picture on the right really does paint a thousand words, just follow these 6 steps and you will be wearing the perfect tie in no time. Contact us here to get your tie personalised

The Windsor Knot

The Windsor knot is a great choice if you can perfect it, but only if you can perfect it. It is ideal for any situation and just makes you look that little bit cooler no matter where you are.  It only has 6 steps, the same as the half-Windsor but it is harder to get just right. If there is a will there is a way! Just follow the steps in the picture slowly first and by tomorrow you will be the best-dressed person at work!

The Bow Tie

First of all, before we get started on the bow tie tutorial there is something that has to be said and that is, there are literally thousands and thousands of ready-made bows ties available to purchase online and in stores, they look great and can save you hours of stress. We have spent numerous hours attempting to tie a  bow tie over and over and it is a challenging task, but if you can finish it off it’s very very rewarding! So you have already earned my full respect just for giving it a go. There is also the small added bonus that if you tie your own bow tie it is noticeable, and people will be impressed.  So here it is, 8 steps to give you the perfect self-made bow tie.

Get Your Tie Personalised

Now that your necktie tying skills are perfected, there is only one thing you can do to make that tie look even better and that is personalising your tie. At Garment Printing we can do it all. We have every Printing Technique available on the market to ensure that you get the best quality tie possible. All you have to do is fill out a quote and we will contact you within 15 minutes (during working hours) or give us a call.
